Who we are

The Bug Guy is an owner-operated pest control business run by Mark Chan (ABN 33 636 949 570), based at Unit 5 / 7 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park NSW 2113. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean The Bug Guy. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information openly and responsibly.

What we collect

We only collect personal information that we need to quote and carry out pest control work and to respond to your enquiries. This may include:

• Your name, phone number and email address.
• The property address where the work is needed and details about the pest problem.
• Any information you choose to give us in an enquiry form, email, text message or phone call.
• Basic technical information your browser sends when you visit the site, such as your approximate location, device and pages viewed, used only in aggregate to improve the site.

We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

How we use it

We use your information to provide a quote, schedule and carry out the work, send you a report or invoice, answer your questions, and keep records we are required to keep as a licensed pest manager. We may contact you about your job or enquiry by phone, text or email. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Enquiry forms

When you submit an enquiry form on this site, the details you enter are sent to us so we can respond. Form submissions are handled through Google services (Google Apps Script and Google Sheets) and emailed to [email protected]. Only the information you provide in the form is collected.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Analytics load only after you accept via the cookie banner: if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent. When enabled, it collects usage data such as the pages you view, time on the site, approximate location and device type, processed by Google under its own privacy terms. We do not use advertising cookies. The contact page also embeds a Google Map, served by Google and subject to Google's own privacy terms.

Third parties we rely on

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site and the business: Cloudflare Pages (website hosting), Google (Maps embed, Fonts, and the form handling and email described above). These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function. We do not otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties unless you have asked us to, or we are required to by law.

Storing and protecting your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected or to meet our legal obligations. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you give us.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Contact Mark on the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
