Termite treatments

Termite barriers and colony elimination, done right.

Once termites are found, the next step is treating them properly. That means either a barrier around the building or a baiting system that takes out the colony, chosen to suit your situation and recommended after an inspection.

Two approaches

Barriers and baiting, explained simply.

There are two main ways to deal with termites, and they do different jobs. Which one is right depends on what the inspection finds, the construction of your building and where the activity is.

  • Chemical barrier. The soil around the building is treated to create a protected zone, so termites cannot get to your timber undetected.
  • Baiting system. In-ground or above-ground stations are used to eliminate the colony at the source, not just the termites you can see.

In many cases the two work together. A barrier protects the structure while a baiting system deals with an active colony nearby. Mark treats homes and commercial buildings right across Sydney, from the North Shore to the Eastern Suburbs and the western suburbs, and will explain exactly what he recommends and why, in plain terms.

Every treatment is carried out to the Australian Standard. Pre-construction treatments on new builds are done to AS 3660.1, and treatments on existing buildings are done to AS 3660.2.

Treatment is recommended after a full termite inspection, so the approach is matched to what is actually happening on your property. Warranty terms depend on the product used.

Inspect first, then treat

A treatment is only as good as the inspection behind it. We recommend a full termite inspection first so the barrier or baiting plan is matched to what is actually happening on your property, then quote the work from there.

Warranty on the work

Termite work carries warranty terms based on the product and system used. Mark will set out the warranty that applies to your treatment in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises.

Common questions

Termite treatments, answered.

Do I need a barrier or a baiting system?

It depends on your situation. A barrier treats the soil around the building to keep termites out, while a baiting system eliminates an active colony. Which is recommended comes down to what the inspection finds, the construction of your building and where the activity is. Often the two are used together.

Why does treatment need an inspection first?

The right treatment depends on what is actually happening on the property. A full inspection shows where termites are active and how they are getting in, so the barrier or baiting plan is matched to your building rather than guessed at.

What Australian Standard do your treatments follow?

Pre-construction treatments on new builds are done to AS 3660.1. Treatments on existing buildings are done to AS 3660.2.

What does a termite treatment cost?

Termite treatments are quoted after an inspection, because the right approach and the size of the job vary from property to property. The quote is free with no callout fee. See our pricing page for how our pricing works.

Pricing

What a termite treatment costs.

There is no honest flat price for this one, and here is why.

  • Quoted after the inspection, never beforeThe price depends on the size of the building, the construction type and what the inspection actually found. Anyone quoting a treatment sight unseen is guessing.
  • Barrier or bait changes the numberA liquid barrier around a slab home and a baiting system on a difficult site are different jobs with different costs. Which one suits gets decided by the inspection.
  • The inspection comes first, from $280 + GSTYou are not committed to treatment by booking one, and the report is yours either way.

Every quote is free and there is no callout fee. Full pricing.
