Termite inspection
A full termite inspection, with a written report to keep.

What gets checked
Every part of the property, not just the easy bits.
A proper termite inspection means getting into the awkward spaces where termites are most active, then working methodically through the whole building and the ground around it. Across the North Shore, Hornsby and the leafier northern Sydney suburbs where termite pressure runs high, Mark checks the lot.
- Interior. Skirtings, door frames, wet areas and anywhere timber meets moisture.
- Subfloor. Bearers, joists and piers, the classic entry route from the ground up.
- Roof void. Rafters, beams and the timber framing above the ceiling.
- Exterior, fences and gardens. Perimeter timber, retaining walls, sleepers and stored timber.
- Moisture-prone areas. Leaks, drainage and damp spots that draw termites in.
The inspection covers accessible areas. If something cannot be safely reached, it is noted in the report so you know exactly what was and was not assessed.
How it runs
Sixty to ninety minutes, done properly.
A standard inspection takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on the size and layout of the property. Here is how the visit goes.
- Mark arrives, introduces himself and confirms the scope of the inspection with you.
- You walk him through the property and flag anything you have noticed, such as clicking sounds, soft skirtings or past termite history.
- He inspects the interior room by room, including wet areas and timber fixtures.
- He moves into the subfloor to check bearers, joists and piers.
- He inspects the roof void and the timber framing above the ceiling.
- He works around the exterior, fences, gardens and any stored timber or retaining walls.
- He checks moisture-prone areas and drainage points that attract termites.
- He talks you through the findings on the day and answers your questions.
- You receive a written report to AS 4349.3 by email, yours to keep.
A written report you keep
You receive a written inspection report prepared to AS 4349.3-2010, the Australian Standard for timber pest inspections. It records what was checked, what was found and any recommendations, so you have it on file for your own records or for a property purchase.
Recommended once a year
Industry guidance is to have a termite inspection at least once a year. Regular inspections catch activity early, when it is far cheaper and simpler to deal with than after structural damage has set in. If an inspection turns up activity, the next step is termite treatments.
Common questions
Termite inspections, answered.
How long does a termite inspection take?
A standard inspection runs about 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the size and layout of the property and how accessible the subfloor and roof void are.
Do I really need one if I have not seen termites?
Yes. Termites work out of sight and you often will not see them until damage is already done. Industry guidance is an inspection at least once a year so any activity is found early, when it is cheaper and easier to address.
What does an inspection cost?
