How it works
Stations in the ground, checked on a schedule.
Trelona is a termite bait system for the ongoing management and control of subterranean termite colonies, in the ground around and under any type of building.
- Stations around the building. Bait stations go into the ground around the building, as part of an ongoing program rather than a one-off job.
- The bait works on the colony. The active ingredient is novaluron, a Group 15 insecticide, at 5 g/kg.
- Less bait to get there. BASF says Trelona needs much less bait to eliminate a colony than other termite baits.
Treatment is recommended after a full termite inspection, so the system is matched to what is actually happening on your property.

Baiting or a barrier: which do I need?
It depends on the property. A barrier treats the soil around the building, while bait stations work on the colony. The inspection decides, and often the two are used together.
How often are the stations checked?
Anywhere from monthly to every six months, depending on termite activity, the risk on the site and which way the system was installed.
How long does the bait last?
BASF says the Trelona bait cartridges can last 5 years in Australian conditions.
Can Trelona be used with Termidor?
Yes. BASF says Trelona can be combined with its Termidor range, so a barrier and bait stations can protect the same building.
What does a Trelona system cost?
It is quoted after an inspection, because the number of stations and the checking schedule depend on the property. The quote is free with no callout fee, and the inspection is from $280 + GST.
